Surfing at the Martin Street Bridge - February 25, 2024
My original plan was to paddle the canal/river loop from Lonsdale to Ashton. I got down to the put-in and had a surprise – the canal was frozen. Well, it is still winter after all. Instead, I ended up surfing at the broken dam below the Martin Street Bridge. The level was great, and it is always fun to surf in my Yellowstone Sole. Here is about an hour of paddling in about two and a half minutes.

Day after Christmas - Martin Street Bridge - December 26, 2021
Christmas is always a time when I get some new paddling gear. This year I go a new liner for my drysuit from Mom, some nice fleece socks from Michelle and a paddling guide for southern Maine from Justin along with a double camping pad for base camping. I went to try out my new drysuit liner and socks down at the Martin Street Bridge today - they worked great. No snow, and not very cold, but still a winter wonderland in my mind.

Martin Street Bridge - February 21, 2021
It was nice to get out for a little park-and-play below the Martin Street Bridge. A lady watching from the bikepath asked me why I didn't just paddled downstream - what's the fun in that. The river was at a nice level - 2.5', 700 cfs. Here is an hour-and-a-half condensed into 3 minutes.

A Bike Path Runs Along It - Lonsdale to Manville - June 21, 2020
I did my first bike shuttle yesterday on the bike path from the Lonsdale Drive-in to Manville - 6.5 miles up on the bike, about 7 miles back down in the boat, and 3 portages (Albion, Ashon and Lonsdale). It took my about 4-hours. Nice way to spend Father's Day morning.

Martin Street Bridge – March 1, 2020
It has been a while since I had my whitewater boat out, so I decided to do a little park and play at the Martin Street Bridge. River was around 3’, 900 cfs.

Martin Street Bridge - February 3, 2019
Ferry out, surf, repeat - a great way too paddle 30' of river and never get bored. I had been thinking about a Crystal run all week, and figured someone would post a trip. When they finally did the river was dropping (800 cfs) and the meet-up time was noon, which meant that I wouldn't get back home until around the start of the Super Bowl. I wasn’t up for that, so I decided to stay local. I went down to Berkley to paddle the ledge below the Martin Street Bridge. The river was 1,000 cfs, 3 feet on the Woonsocket gage. Here's an hour-and-a-half compressed into three minutes.
